What We Believe

We are a community of faith founded upon the grace of God. We trust that God is the creator of all things. But all things are no longer as God created them to be. The world, including humanity, is broken because humanity brought corruption into creation. Yet, God in his loving desire for what he made, has been working to restore all things. He sent his Son, Jesus, into the world to restore creation and to heal humanity –  mending bodies, forgiving sins, welcoming the marginalized back into community. Though Jesus was opposed and murdered, God raised him from the dead so he could continue his work. He made Jesus Lord of all. We trust Jesus will return, raise the dead, restore all things and stay with us in his restored creation forever. Until that day, Jesus is sending his Spirit into the world to continue his work. He is mending our relationship with God, restoring us as creatures to our loving creator. But we also trust that the gift of the Spirit is working to empower us as a community in Christ to manifest the continued love and work of God in this broken world today.  We believe this story of salvation is shown in the Holy Bible and summarized in the words of the Apostles’ Creed.

Apostles Creed
We believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell.  On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
